The church is located in St. Mark's Square. It was built in the middle of the XIII century, but has undergone many changes over its centuries-old history. From that time to the present day, only a window on the southern facade of the building, made in the Romanesque style and a Gothic doorway, have survived.

The works of the famous sculptor Ivan Parler, located in the door, are of particular value. Here, in eleven niches, statues of Jesus Christ, the Virgin Mary, St. Mark and the twelve apostles are kept.

The Church of St. Mark is rather small in size. She gained her celebrity thanks to her original roof. It is covered with colored tiles that depict 2 coats of arms: the coat of arms of Dalmatia, Slavonia and Croatia and the coat of arms of the city of Zagreb. This unusual roof was added at the end of the 19th century.

From 1936 to 1938, the church was renovated and renovated under the direction of Ivan Mestrovic, and since then there are several of his sculptures. The walls of the temple are decorated with ancient frescoes depicting members of the Croatian royal family.
