The Museum of the History of the City is, in fact, the local history museum of Porec. It is the successor of two previous museums: the Archaeological Museum of Istria, which was founded in 1884, and the City Museum of Art and History, founded in 1926.

Since 1952, the combined funds of the museum have been housed in a 17th century Baroque palace, once owned by the Sinchich family. In addition, the museum supervises several buildings and objects of cultural and historical significance not only in Porec itself, but also outside it.

The key task of the museum is to collect, store and study the historical, cultural and national heritage of Porec, as well as professional and scientific processing and presentation of exhibits for visitors based on scientific and technical search tools.

The Museum seeks active partnership and interaction with other museums outside of Porec, trying to establish a cultural exchange of information. In addition, the local history folk museum interacts with citizens. It can be called the object that embodies the true spirit of Porec and its surroundings.
