Dead Sea

The Sea of Galilee, also called the Kinneret, is located in the north of the country. It is the lowest lake, as it is 215 meters below the world's ocean. The lake has an area of 170 sq. km with a depth reaching in some places up to 40 meters. The depth of the Sea of Galilee varies with rainfall, that fell out in winter. The sea is a source of fresh water for many cities that are located on its shores. A third of the water used in Israel is taken from it. Many fish live in its waters. With its sandy bottom and well-groomed beaches, the Sea of Galilee attracts many holidaymakers, both Israelis and foreigners. On its coast there are many cultural and historical monuments and attractions.

Israel's western border is washed by another sea – Mediterranean. In the summer season, the sea warms up to 26 degrees, and in winter its temperature reaches 18 degrees. Big waves are often formed in the Mediterranean, which is why there are many surfers on its beaches. Most of its beaches have fine sand and clear water, so many resorts have been built here. The main resort cities on the Israeli Mediterranean are Herzliya, Tel Aviv and Netanya. In addition, cities such as Ashkelon, Haifa and Ashdod are located on the coast. Haifa – port of Israel, through which goods from other countries arrive. The coastline has a well-established infrastructure: comfortable beaches, many shops, hotels, restaurants and cafes.

Between Israel and Jordan, there is the saltiest sea, which is called the Dead Sea. It justifies its name, since no living organisms are found in it due to the high salt content. The sea is the lowest point, as its level is 410 meters lower than the level of the world ocean. The Dead Sea contains about 30% minerals that have healing properties. The entire chemical periodic table is present in the sea water. On the coast there are many thermal springs and deposits of healing mud, which are sold in shops and can be bought for medicinal purposes. Thanks to the vapors emanating from the sea surface, a dense layer of air is formed, which prevents the passage of the harmful ultraviolet radiation contained in the sun's rays. Therefore, on the shores of the Dead Sea, you can safely sunbathe and take healthy sunbathing without fear of getting burned. The healing mud of the Dead Sea treats various diseases of the skin, musculoskeletal system, as well as diseases associated with the cardiovascular system. Based on the minerals it contains, unique cosmetics are made that have a beneficial effect on the skin of the face and body. Many hotels have been built on the sea coast, which offer tourists not only comfortable rooms, but also various wellness treatments.

The Middle Sea

The South of Israel is washed by the Red Sea with an area of 450 sq. Km. Summer temperature in these places rises to 40 degrees, in winter it is also warm. The best resorts are located on the coast of this sea. Not a single river flows into the Red Sea, so its waters do not grow cloudy from the ingress of sand and silt from rivers. Because the sea is always crystal clear, its waters are ideal for diving. In the northern bay of the Red Sea lies the amazingly beautiful city of Eilat. The maximum depth of the bay is 1300 meters. A fabulously beautiful coral reef stretches along the coast, rich in corals of various colors and shapes, in which rare marine plants grow. A variety of exotic fish species swim in this underwater kingdom. On the shores of the Red Sea, an underwater observatory has been built, in which there are many aquariums and a room with a virtual immersion in the sea. Thus, you can observe the underwater life of the coral reef, while not submerging in the water. It is interesting to visit the dolphin reef in these places, where the dolphin family lives. They are not at all afraid of people and are happy to make contact.
