Tabgha is a place where seven springs come out, located in the northwest of Lake Kinneret. It was here, according to the Bible, that some of the most important events for Christianity took place.

The most famous of them is the miracle of the multiplication of fish and loaves, when Jesus managed to feed more than 5 thousand people with two fish and five loaves of bread. The second miracle performed here is walking on water, when during a storm Jesus was able to walk on the water to the boat and save Simon. The third miracle was the appearance of Jesus to the disciples after his resurrection.

Today, here you can see a `` common church '' dedicated to Jesus and the miracles he performed. Previously, there were three Byzantine churches – Menza Christie, Multiplication and 'Teachings of Jesus' raquo;.

In 350, during the reign of Emperor Constantine, a basilica was built here, the floor of which was decorated with mosaics. Today this mosaic, depicting five loaves of bread and two fish, is one of the most famous in the world.

In 480, a Byzantine architect made a concrete reconstruction of the building, after which the altar was oriented to the east.

The church was completely destroyed in 614. Over time, William II built a monastery of the Multiplication of Loaves and Fishes here, which was also destroyed after a while.

The ruins of all churches, as well as the famous mosaic, were discovered only in 1932, after archaeological excavations. In 1982 a modern Benedictine church was built here.
