Katzrin, Israel, Golan Heights resort
Rating: 8,2/10 (244 votes)  The city of Katzrin is the administrative center and the largest city of the Golan Heights located on Israeli territory. The city is located on the Golan Plateau, not far from the confluence of the Jordan River into the Kinneret Lake. Construction of the modern city began in 1974 and was part of the government's program to settle the Golan Heights. In 1977, the first inhabitants appeared here. The city got its name in honor of the ancient Jewish settlement that existed here in the Talmudic era and was destroyed by an earthquake that occurred about 13 centuries ago. Nearby there is an archaeological site with the modern city. Today the city of Katzrin is the tourist center of the northern part of Israel.
