The keyboard monument in Yekaterinburg is the most original and unusual sight of the city. The composition is dedicated to one of the great human inventions - a device for entering information known as a keyboard. The keyboard monument is the first land-art sculpture realized in Yekaterinburg. It is located on the left bank of the Iset River, in the area between two Kuibyshev and Malysheva streets.

The keyboard monument appeared in October 2005. The idea of creating such an original composition belongs to the artist Anatoly Vyatkin. The project was curated by N. Allakhverdiyeva and A. Sergeev. The contractor was Atomstroycomplex.

The Yekaterinburg keyboard monument is an exact concrete copy of a computer keyboard, made in 1:30 scale, it consists of 104 concrete keys arranged in a QWERTY-layout. The layout of the concrete keys matches the standard keyboard. The keys are built into grooves, the spacing between which is about 15 cm. Some of these keys weigh up to 500 kg. The total project area is 64 sq.m.

The locals immediately fell in love with the monument. Quite often, the townspeople use the "keys" as benches or a background for photo sessions, and the house that is located nearby was called the "system unit". The concrete "buttons" were repeatedly stolen, which forced the sculpture to be repaired.

Soon after the opening of the monument to the keyboard around it arose their beliefs and omens. They say that if you type your desire on this keyboard, jumping from letter to letter, and then with both feet to stand on the "Enter" key, the wish made will certainly come true. However, this will not be as easy as it seems at first glance, since the scale of the keyboard is quite impressive. Culturologists see this monument as a symbolic combination of Asian and European values.

Currently, the keyboard monument in Yekaterinburg does not have the official status of a monument, but Yekaterinburg residents really hope that soon it will be included in the list of cultural values of the city.
