The Ryapa Paper Mill is one of the oldest operating enterprises in Estonia and one of the oldest operating paper mills in all of Europe.

The Ryapa Paper Mill has been operating since 1734 years, even then her work was based on the technology of using secondary raw materials, which was taken as linen rags. Under the guidance of German and Swedish craftsmen, the factory produced a wide range of paper and cardboard for various purposes.

In the beginning, all production was done by hand. However, already at the beginning of the 19th century, devices (holders) were installed at the enterprise, which served to grind rags. The paper mill turned into a factory in 1865 when the first self-scooped paper machine was brought in from Germany. Soon there were 4 such machines, one of them, rebuilt, is still in operation. In 1970, the factory was refurbished and modernized, new production buildings were built, as well as residential buildings.

The purpose of the factory is to combine environmentally friendly ) and modern production with three hundred years of experience in the enterprise. The production uses only secondary raw materials - waste paper collected in Estonia. Today, the factory produces paper and cardboard for various purposes, as well as stationery (notebooks, document folders), art goods (watercolor paper, drawing paper). The development of the production process of the factory is aimed at a more careful and gentle attitude to the environment.

Today, the factory accepts excursion groups. During the excursion, which lasts about 1 hour, you can get acquainted with the history of the Ryapin paper mill, as well as with the whole process of paper production. In addition, it will be possible to see the manufactured products, and, of course, purchase them if necessary.
