The name in English is Pollein. Photo and descriptionPollein is a natural park and open-air geological museum in the Italian region of Val d'Aosta, which also serves as a sports center. Created in 1994, it spreads over an area of 10 hectares on the plain of the Dora Baltea river just a few kilometers from Aosta. In Pollane, you can find extensive lawns for various sports, a playground for children and circular jogging tracks. Each lawn has benches and drinking water fountains. Along the embankment, where the "Grand Place" building is located, which is used as a multifunctional center, a special trail has been laid from which a panorama of 360?; - it allows visitors to inspect the most important geographical, geomorphological and geological elements of the area. On three sides, the main building of Pollane is surrounded by a park with shrubs and trees (including the unique gingko biloba tree, which is called the "living fossil"). There are also several huge boulders - the main rocks that form the Val d'Aosta mountains. It is noteworthy that access to the park and to the "stone path" is specially equipped for people in wheelchairs. All stones are laid out in accordance with their geographical and geological origin, therefore, if you follow from one to another in the right order, you can take a virtual journey from the moraines of Dora Baltea to the majestic massif of Mont Blanc.
