Photo and description

The ruins of one of the oldest cities on the planet are located in the Bekaa Valley. Now here you can see the ruins of the Great Temple (the Temple of Jupiter), the Small Temple (the Temple of Bacchus or Mercury), the Round Temple (the Temple of Venus), propylaea, the remains of a 13th century fortress and the ruins of the Great Mosque. The Temple of Jupiter stands on the terrace, in the masonry of which there are three grand monolithic slabs - Trilithon of Baalbek. How it was possible to lay three slabs, each weighing at least 800 tons, on top of each other remains a mystery.
