Pillnitz Castle is the summer residence of Augustus the Strong on the banks of the Elbe, created in the 20s of the 18th century according to Peppelmann's projects. The castle consists of two buildings - the Mountain Palace and the Water Palace with the Lustgarten garden. At the beginning of the 19th century, the New Palace was built, connecting the first two. Lustgarten is a huge park with pavilions and greenhouses in Chinese and English style.

Now the Mountain Palace houses the Museum of Crafts, the collection of which includes pieces of furniture, musical instruments, glass, Danish and French faience, works on stone and textiles.
