Photo and description

For six centuries, the Alcazar remained the seat of the Spanish kings. The upper floor of the palace is used by the royal family to this day. The palace was built by King Pedro I in the middle of the XIV century on the site of an Arab fortress and included many of its halls and buildings.

Passing through the Hunting Yard, where the king's retinue gathered before the hunt, you find yourself in the residential part of the palace. preserved from Arab times - the Plaster Courtyard and the Puppet Courtyard. The windows of the royal bedrooms overlook here. The Maiden's Courtyard became famous for its elegant stucco moldings, created by the best craftsmen in Granada. The dome of the Hall of Ambassadors is covered with gilded wooden carvings with intricate patterns. Symmetrically located triple horseshoe-shaped arches in the hall are richly decorated.

On the second floor there is the palace church of Charles V, decorated with tapestries and tiles of the 16th century. Behind the palace are gardens with terraces, fountains and pavilions.
