Photo and description

Located in Seville, the Alcazar Palace is one of the most striking examples of the Moorish cultural heritage in the city. This majestic and beautiful fortress, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, is one of the main attractions of Seville and a place of pilgrimage for many tourists. But not only the fortress itself is beautiful. Special attention should be paid to the amazing gardens laid out around the Alcazar.

The gardens of the Alcazar are located on terraces, filled with peace and comfort, dispose to rest and reflection. This magnificent garden and park complex consists of several independent gardens: the Garden of Mercury, the garden of the Marquis de la Vega Inclan, the Great Garden, the Garden of the Cross, the Galera Garden, the Troy Garden, the Orange Grove, the Garden of Flowers, the Garden of Poets, the Labyrinth and others. The gardens were laid out here during the Arab rule, and have changed over the course of their history, thus, their appearance contains features of many styles - Moorish, Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque. The planted rows of tall palms, orange and lemon trees, slender cypresses alternating with neatly trimmed bushes of jasmine and myrtle are intricately intertwined. The air is filled with aromas of trees and flowers. The gardens are decorated with fountains and ponds, paths and alleys, columns and sculptures, there are gazebos and pavilions that call for relaxation, decorated with tiles and ceramic tiles.

Currently, there are more than 170 plant species in the gardens of the Alcazar, many of which are exotic for this area and were brought here from other regions.
