The State Academic Drama Theater named after Viktor Savin is located in the Komi Republic, in the city of Syktyvkar on Pervomayskaya Street, 56. This theater has become the oldest of all the theaters in the Komi Republic today. In the past, the theater did not work for some time due to a global and large-scale reconstruction, but in the fall of November 2009 the Komi ASSR Drama Theater continued its work again.

The theater was founded on October 8, 1930. It has come a long and difficult path, starting from the troupe of amateur actors, which was assembled and organized by Viktor Savin, and ending with the first, already professional team. But not only high professionalism reigns in this theater. Today, a unique bilingual troupe is working, the repertoire of which knows no boundaries, which tirelessly pleases numerous devoted spectators. The modern drama theater of the Komi Republic is one of the most important centers of artistic and spiritual culture, spreading in the immense North of Russia, because it was on the stage of this theater that many performances of not only Russian, but also world classics were presented, including plays by national playwrights of the Komi Republic.

The first acting troupe was organized in 1918. The head of the troupe, Viktor Savin, chose the drama "Big Wine" as the first performance. The production took place in the winter of 1919 and was enthusiastically received by the audience. Two years later, "Sykomtevchuk" was formed - a theatrical association, directed and headed by V.A. Savin. The association existed for more than eight years, after which it became necessary to create a troupe of professional actors.

Throughout 1930, monthly courses on theatrical art were carried out. The composer Golitsyn and director Bersenev were invited to the courses, who taught amateur artists. It was at this time that the theater received its first name - the Komi Instructive Demonstration Mobile Theater, which began developing performances on October 8, 1930, which was the date of its foundation. In 1932, professional artists began to appear on the stage of the theater, including the experienced artistic director V.P. Vyborova - a graduate of the Academy of Arts of the city of Leningrad.

By the decree of the Presidium of the Regional Executive Committee of the Komi Republic dated June 14, 1936, the foundation of the Regional Combine of Theater Enterprises was laid. Graduates of the Leningrad Theater Academy come here - Ermolin S.I., Tarabukina A.S., Mysov P.A., Zin A.G., Popov I.N. and many others. Thus, there is a merger of graduates of a professional technical school and a troupe of amateurs under the leadership of Khodyrev to form the Komi Drama Theater. The first joint product was the play, presented in the summer of 1936, under the name "Yegor Bulychev", which opened the first theatrical season.

On October 27, 1980, according to the decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR, the Komi Drama Theater was awarded the Order of Friendship of Peoples. Two years before this event, the theater received the name of Savin, after which in 1995 he was awarded the title of "academic".

At the moment, a strong troupe of leading talented artists is working in the drama theater. Among the huge number of actors, the most talented were: Triebelhorn Alexander - People's Artist of Russia, Mikova Galina and Gradov Viktor - Honored Artists of the Russian Federation, Gabova Vera - Honored Artist of the Komi Republic, as well as Yankov Igor, Lipin Mikhail, Kuzmin Vladimir, Temnoeva Tatyana, Tretyakov Andrey and a lot others. The artistic director of the drama theater is Tatiana Vyrypaeva, an honored cultural worker of Russia.

Among the most successful and accepted by the audience performances are: "Romantics" by Edmond Rostand, "Hamlet" by William Shakespeare, "Bloody Destiny" by Garcia Lorca, "Pannochka" by Nina Sadur, "A Very Simple Story" by Maria Lado , Nikolai Dyakonov's "Wedding with a Dowry" and many other productions.
