The Knyazhpogost District Museum of History and Local Lore is located in the city of Emva. It was created on the basis of a public museum that had been operating since 1969 at the regional House of Culture. On October 25, 1972, the opening of the national museum of local lore was approved, the activities of which were managed by a public council headed by the director of the house of culture S.A. Baranov. The museum was housed in two wooden panel houses.

In July 1989, the district museum occupied the building of the former military commissariat located at 74 Dzerzhinsky Street (a building built in the early 1940s), where it is still located. In July 1990, the museum received the status of a state institution. Today its funds include more than 7.5 thousand exhibits.

The emblem of the museum is a salt shaker-duck, executed at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. The salt shaker is made of a birch burl, it has a lid, and is covered with drying oil on top. In the past, this kind of saltcellars-ducks were an obligatory attribute of the Komi wedding ceremony. On the day of the wedding, the bride carried away from her home a duck salt shaker carved by her father or maternal uncle. The figure of a duck was the personification of parental blessings, as well as a symbol of family happiness.

The main tasks of the local history museum are collecting, preserving, exposing and promoting the history and culture of the native land. The hall dedicated to the culture and life of the Komi people displays exhibits that tell about the life of the Komi people in the 18-20 centuries. All the exhibits on display were collected by the museum staff in the villages and villages of the Knyazhpogost region. Wooden plow, harrow, hand millstones, sickle, pink salmon scythe testify to the development of agriculture in these places. Here you can also see samovars, various bottles, irons, fabric caskets, which were sold in stores and shops. In the section dedicated to fishing and hunting: fish traps, skis, hunter's clothes, spear for a bear.

Visitors to the next hall can see various types of crockery made of birch bark and wood, clay and copper, ancient building tools, Komi folk clothes. In addition, you can get acquainted with how the loom works, and why in ancient times there was a need for a "light" in the house.

The exposition, telling about the nature of the area, is represented by scenes from the life of forest dwellers, which are composed of stuffed birds and animals, rocks. Here you can also get acquainted with the collection of butterflies and insects, living in these places. Part of the exposition are photographs in which views of the vicinity of the Knyazhpogostsky region. A separate section of the exposition is associated with specially protected natural areas, of which there are 16 in the Knyazhpogostsky district. This exposition is of particular interest for children, since it is built as if you are actually in a real living forest.

In the exposition "No one is forgotten, nothing is forgotten" tells about the fate of fellow countrymen who went through the Second World War. Each section of this exposition is permeated with respect for their life and deed. Here, visitors get acquainted with fellow countrymen who glorified their land, having received the title of Hero of the Soviet Union - there are four of them in the Knyazhpogost region: Davydovich N.P., Gushchin N.F., Safronov P.S., Nikishin M.D., women workers rear.

Also in the museum there is an exposition introducing famous fellow countrymen from the Knyazhpogost region, called "The Golden Gallery of Countrymen". A special place in the Knyazhpogostsky district museums is at the exposition hall dedicated to Pitirim Alexandrovich Sorokin - the famous sociologist, author of many scientific works, who was born in the village of Turya, Knyazhpogostsky district.

The museum also has an exposition of interest to adults and children. It presents models of sea vessels, which are reduced copies of such famous ships as "Katy - Clark", etc.
