The Museum of History and Culture of the Sysolsky District, located in the village of Vizinga, worked on a voluntary basis in 1970–1990, and in December 1980 it was awarded the honorary title of "People's Museum". In 1990, it became a state, and in 2005 - a legal entity.

In 1985, the museum had its first branch in the village of Kuratovo - the Museum of Literary Heroes "K & ouml; h Zakar Kerka" I.A. Kuratov. The second branch was opened in 2003. This is the I.P. Morozov, located in the village of Mezhador.

Initially, the collection of the museum of the Sysolsky region consisted of 36 exhibits, which were presented to the museum by the teacher, local historian A.V. Kholopov. and his students are members of the local history circle. Most of the museum's funds are created thanks to finds objects brought from expeditions and donated to the museum. The personal funds of cultural and scientific figures, political figures who come from the Sysolsk region are formed here: Golosov I.M., Beznosov P.A., Morozov I.P., Paneva Z.V., Kholopova V.A. and others.

The museum exposition provides visitors with the opportunity to get acquainted with the nature, geography, history, culture of the area in detail. The museum has an exposition "Nature around us", which includes the sections: "Fossils of the Jurassic" and "The World of Minerals", the interiors of an ordinary village hut and a bourgeois room of the early 20th century have been recreated.

The historical part of the museum's exposition acquaints visitors with the inhabitants of the village of Vizinga, who took part in the Great Patriotic War. There are also writing and school supplies of the war period, letters from the front, greatcoats, a gymnast, samples of the products of the Vizing Industrial Complex are presented.

The section "Fine Arts" presents works of decorative and applied art, painting, graphics, sculpture, which were created by artists and craftsmen who lived both in the Sysolsk region and in the republic in the second half of the 20th century. The collection of the Vizing Museum, numbering about 400 items, presents canvases by masters of art born in the Sysol land. Among them are A.V. Kochev, P.M. Mityushev, N.V. Maltsev, A.A. Kulikova, P.A. Polevin. Of particular interest are the works of Yu.B. Chikarin, executed in the style of ethnofuturism (the series "Summer Rites in Sysol" and "Mysteries of Sysol Mythology"), PN Belousova.

Every year the museum organizes about forty thematic, art, personal exhibitions, which the museum organizes both independently and together with other state, departmental museums. Regional conferences are held here. The Society of Local Lore Amateurs was formed at the museum, and a public Center of National Cultures was also opened.

Since 2005, the Museum of the Sysolsky District has established a special award "Muse", which is awarded once every five years to the most active assistants of the museum. The award is presented on the International Day of Museums.

Since the Sysolsky District is located far from the industrial areas of the Komi Territory, its fish lakes and rivers, generous forests, the surroundings of the villages beckon to abandon the everyday hustle and bustle, having joined the simple rural life and the pacification of nature,
