Mirogoy Cemetery was created in 1876 by the Austrian architect Hermann Bolle. The main attraction of the cemetery is its entrance gate and arcades along the western wall, where the rich and famous residents of the Croatian capital found eternal peace.

The cemetery is more like a sculptural park: most of the gravestones were made by famous Croatian sculptors, including Ivan Mestrovic.
