Church of St. Catherine in Greece, Heraklion resort
Rating: 8,3/10 (6934 votes)  This church in Heraklion used to be the patrimony of nuns from the monastery of St. Catherine on Mount Sinai. During the Turkish invasion, the church was turned into a mosque. Now the church houses a historical museum, which, among other exhibits, contains frescoes and icons by Mikhail Damaskinos. This artist was a prominent representative of the Cretan school.
