Photo and description

The church, mainly dating back to the 14th century, with the exception of the 18th century facade, was built during the reign of Robert the Wise of Anjou. It is one of the few surviving Gothic buildings in Naples.

The church houses several noteworthy medieval tombstones, including the tombstone of St. Catherine of Austria, by a student of Giovanni Pisano.

As a result of archaeological excavations carried out in the foundations of the church, the remains of an ancient Roman basilica were discovered, which can be viewed for an additional fee.
