Allen Forest Zoo is located in the city of Kanpur, a large industrial center of northern India. It is one of the few zoos in the country that are built right in the middle of the forest, and it is also the largest open park in Kanpur.

Botanist Sir Allen was the initiator of the creation of Allen Forest, but, unfortunately, due to bureaucratic delays, the zoo was opened only in 1971, after India gained independence.

Among the inhabitants of the zoo are jaguars, grizzly bears, antelopes, hippos, rhinos, baboons, hyenas, leopards, Asian tigers. Due to the fact that the zoological garden is located in the forest, the animals that are in it live in conditions close to the conditions of their natural habitat, for example, some monkeys and deer are released from their enclosures to the open area.

Among other things, there is a botanical garden in the park, which contains a rich collection of rare Indian plants.

The zoo also there is a veterinary hospital that can simultaneously accept up to 1400 animals, not only those living in the park, but also wild ones that suffered when they met a person.

The management of the zoo promotes its development in every possible way and attracts large industrial businesses that support Allen Forest financially. There is also strict monitoring of the implementation of the rules that are introduced in the park. So, for example, it is allowed to feed animals only in specially designated places, and the use of plastic bottles and plastic bags is prohibited.
