Basilica of Saint John in Turkey, Ephesus resort
Rating: 7,7/10 (151 votes)  The building of the basilica was built on the site where, according to assumptions, the tomb of the apostle was located, during the reign of Emperor Justinian the First, in the 6th century. Initially, only a small church was built on this site, which was eventually rebuilt into a basilica. This two-storey building was made in the shape of a cross, and was lined with marble from the inside. Today, only the ruins of walls and a few columns have survived from the basilica.
