Arikanda is an ancient Lycian city located 32 kilometers from Phoenix.

In the 2nd century BC. the city was ruled by Anatolia, and was called Anna. However, the archaeological excavations carried out here completely refuted the theory. Archaeologists claim that the findings date back to at least the 5th century BC

Like most Lycian cities, Arikanda was at that time under the control of the Persians.

In 333 year BC the city was captured by Alexander the Great. After the death of the king, Arikanda passed to the Ptolemies, who were later replaced by the Seleuchids.

Soon the city, according to the Apamean agreement, became a protectorate of Rhodes. A few years later, he left the kingdom and joined the Lycian Union, after the collapse of which Arikanda joined the Roman Empire.

Today in the city you can see many buildings of different eras. The small stadium at the top of the terraces has seating on one side only, with niches in between.

On the lower terrace is an excellently preserved Arikand theater, to which there are steps. The theater seats are made on a natural slope. The construction of the theater was carried out according to the Greek model. On the two upper rows, Greek characters have been preserved. The main city square was located on the terrace under the theater.

Near the agora you can see the ruins of an ancient fountain and two Turkish baths, one of which has survived to this day. There is a gymnasium next to the bathhouse, and a little further - house covered with writing.

The eastern necropolis of the city is located on the terraces above the baths. The western necropolis is located to the west of the city on the rocks, and stretches to the source of the Aikirichay River.

Unlike other ancient cities on the Anatolian coast, there are very few stone tombs in Arikand. Most of them are located at the source of the Aikirichai. Of great interest are channels carved into the rocks.
