The temples of the Phile Island are the best-preserved buildings from the time of the Ptolemies.   The length of the island is 400 meters, and the width is – 135 meters.

Not far from Philae is another islet   - Biguet. Previously, it was considered especially sacred, since according to legend, the remains of Osiris were located here. Only priests could sail to the island. Temples of Philae Island are dedicated to his wife – Isis.

The Philae temple complex includes such buildings as the small temple of Hathor, the Trajan's pavilion, the Nectanebo pavilion, as well as the Temple of Isis itself with numerous annexes.

The Temple of Isis was erected in 350 BC. The front platform of the temple is surrounded by a colonnade. Ptolemy XII is depicted on the walls of the first pylon.

Many bas-reliefs of the temple were destroyed or completely destroyed during the floods caused by the construction of the old Aswan Dam.

The new Aswan Dam created even more problems – the island should have been completely in the flooded zone. To preserve the temples, in 1972-1980 they were dismantled and reassembled on the island of Ajilkiya. The relief of Philae is exactly recreated on the island.
