Marienplatz – the main square in Munich, one of the most significant sights of the city. The square got its name in honor of the Mariinsky Column rising in the very center. In addition, the square houses the neo-Gothic New Town Hall, whose clock is adorned with 32 copper figurines and 43 bells, and the Old Town Hall, which houses a toy museum. The large Kaufingerstrasse street begins from Marienplatz, where you will find many shops. Other attractions nearby the square include the historic Viktualienmarkt market, Frauenkirche Cathedral and others.
