In 1990, when the borders between East and West Berlin were open, paintings began to appear on the east side of the wall, reflecting the political events in the country. 106 paintings were painted, on which 118 artists, representatives of 21 countries, worked. This unique gallery was opened in September 1990. The permanent exhibition stretches for 1316 meters. So, East Side Gallery – the longest open-air art gallery in the world.
