The Transport Museum in Dresden has gathered under its vaults everything that was considered a significant achievement of technical thought at the beginning of the 20th century. Trams, carriages and steam locomotives are collected here. Here you can get acquainted, for example, with the history of Dresden trams – such as are depicted on old postcards. There are trams here that were horse-drawn. And the steam locomotives, which filled everything around with smoke, you will see, perhaps, only in the cinema ... and in this old museum.

The museum was founded in 1952. Since then, historical exhibits that were previously stored in railway depots and in expositions of other museums have flocked to it. Now the collection has gathered quite complete: the railway transport and trams have been joined by   cars, bicycles, aviation and water transport.

Among all this variety, the exhibition of models of the railway is undoubtedly delighted. Toy railways were first produced in the second half of the 19th century in Germany. Then there was the idea of producing accurate models of railways, and there was practically no difference between toy roads and models. Highest development industry for the release of   mini roads reached   in the 1970s. At this time, manufacturers paid special attention to details – wagons, road paraphernalia, buildings. The creation of mini-railroad collections has become a serious undertaking for many collectors in Europe. Fortunately, however, many working models can be seen in the Dresden Transport Museum.
