The museum has an extensive collection of works of art, which, in addition to paintings of world significance, for example, by Cezanne, Milles, Rossetti, contains works related to the history of the city of Manchester. An important place in the museum's collection is occupied by a collection of works by the French impressionist artist Pierre Vallette, who taught at the University of Manchester in the early 20th century.
