Lovers and connoisseurs of contemporary art should definitely visit this art gallery, located in the park of the same name in southern Manchester.

The gallery was founded by Robert Derbyshire in 1889, and in 1958 it became one of the divisions of the University of Manchester. It is called the "North Tate Gallery" - after the world famous London gallery of modern art. The Whitworth Gallery houses an extensive collection of watercolors and sculpture. Samples of textiles occupy a significant place, because for a long time, the textile industry has been one of the leading places in the city. In the halls of the gallery are works by Gauguin, Van Gogh, Picasso and an excellent selection of works by Turner.

Since the gallery is part of the University of Manchester, an important place in its activities is occupied by educational programs and programs of work with children and youth.
