Old Catholic cemetery – the most famous of the four located in the Friedrichshadt district of Dresden. Its fame is associated with the style of monuments and gravestones, as well as with the personalities of the people buried on it.

The gravestones and monuments of the old Catholic cemetery have artistic and historical value - they are made in the Baroque style, classicism and rococo. The cemetery was founded by August the Strong – the most famous elector of Saxony – in 1720-1721 Then it was still located outside the city wall. The first to be buried in this cemetery was Carl Philip Molteno – actor – comedian from Italy. Subsequently, der Alte katolische Friendhof became the main burial place of the times of the Polish-Saxon   union. Many Polish immigrants were buried here. The old Catholic cemetery contains the remains of a famous Polish composer, once transported from London. Also buried here   ashes   brother of Giovanni Casanova, famous Italian   adventurer, traveler and writer.
