Its founders were mannerist painters – Agnolo Bronzino, Giorgio Vasari and Bartolomeo Ammanati. The gallery was originally located in the Cathedral of Santissima Annunziata. Duke Leopold issued a decree in 1784 according to which all art schools in the city were subordinated to the Academy. At the same time, an art gallery was created, where students could get acquainted with masterpieces of fine art. The fine arts also included artistic restoration and music. Today in the halls of the gallery you can see such famous works of art as the sculptures `` The Prisoners '' and 'David' Michelangelo's work, The Rape of the Sabine Women works of Giambologna, and the best examples of Florentine painting XV – XVI century.
