The famous French abbey with an interesting history.

This monastery was built in the XII century. For several centuries, the abbey has become one of the most influential in France. It survived several devastating raids, fires, and was rebuilt.

After the Great French Revolution, the Abbey was abolished and sold to a single industrialist who turned the main premises into pulp and paper workshops. In this form, the former monastery existed for more than a century.

By the 20th century, Fontenay was bought by influential French families, including the Montgolfier family. Now the territory of the Abbey belongs to the Enar clan.
