The most famous square in Paris, and now a public park, the entrance to which is preceded by the Eiffel Tower.
The appearance of the Champ de Mars dates back to the reign of Louis XV and the creation of the Military School in 1751. The area in front of the new building was not empty for long. It was decided to turn the wasteland into a parade ground and a square for holding solemn military parades.
From that very moment, the Champ de Mars began to play an important role in the political life of France, since it was here that the most important revolutionary uprisings were held .
It was from here in 1874 that the first man-controlled balloon was launched into the sky. For some time the Field of Mars was used for horse races.
