This building was burned down during the revolutionary battles, and after the establishment of the Republic, it was decided to build the Town Hall. The project was completed in 1882. The building turned out to be quite impressive due to hundreds of statues placed around the perimeter, on the cornices and the facade. The aim was to depict the history of France, therefore the statues are images of the greatest statesmen: kings, ministers, aristocrats, industrialists. At night, the Town Hall building is decorated with dozens of lighting fixtures, which makes this structure especially attractive for tourists.
