The Temple of Maria Santissima Annunziata is an old church and one of the city's main attractions. The church is located in the historic center of Trapani.

Earlier on this site there was a small church, built in 1250, called Santa Maria del Parto, which belonged to the Carmelite monks. Subsequently, a new one was erected on the site of the old church. In the 18th century, during the reconstruction work, the church was expanded.

Nowadays, the temple houses a statue of the Madonna and Child, made of marble in the 14th century by the sculptor Nino Pisano.

Inside the building you can see a small chapel built in 1586. There is a silver statuette of Saint Alberto degli Abati, created by Vincenzo Bonayuto, as well as an ark containing the saint's skull. Next to the chapel is the cell in which the saint lived, and where the remains of Luigi Rabat are kept today. The remains of the great martyr Saint Clement rest under the main altar of the church.

In 1742, the architect Giovanni Biagio Amico redesigned the central nave of the basilica in the Baroque-Renaissance style. A rosette window rises above the main portal of the building.

Not far from the church is the Carmelite monastery. Currently, the monastery houses the Agostino Pepoli Museum, and nearby is the Villa Pepoli garden.

Every year in August, the city hosts a regional festival,
