The Church of Santa Maria della Salute is an excellent cathedral in Venice, located in the Dorsoduro area on the Grand Canal, opposite the Doge's Palace.
The temple was erected in 1631-1681 in honor of the deliverance of Venice from the plague fever. In those days, the plague claimed more than 100 thousand lives – more than a third of the urban population.
