This elegant building is lined with pink stone and white marble on the outside. The facade is decorated with a lush portal that looks like a Gothic retablo. The hospital is built in the shape of a Greek cross. In its branches were rooms with patients. Inside the hospital, special attention is paid to the main staircase and courtyard. It is surrounded by a two-story gallery with arches. There are Byzantine capitals on the top floor of the building. The frieze and arcades are decorated with coats of arms, leaves and cherubs. The hospital was renovated in the middle of the 20th century. In 1958, an exhibition was held here in honor of the 400th anniversary of the death of Charles V. And in 1962, the hospital housed the Museum of Art Monuments. It contains the most valuable works of art associated with Toledo: works by El Greco, Goya, Fernando Gallego and others. The hospital also houses one of the exhibitions of the Archaeological Museum.
