Hohenheim is one of the many palace structures that were created by Duke Karl Eugene.

In 1771, the Duke donated Katharine Bonafini's Garbenhof estate in the south of Stuttgart. In 1772, a new mistress appeared at the estate – Franziska von Leitrum, the future wife of the Duke. At that time, the creation of the palace complex and the park began. For these purposes, the architect R.F.Kh. Fischer.

In 1793, after the death of the Duke, the castle remained abandoned for a long time, until King William the First opened an agricultural, research and educational institution, which was later transformed into an academy .
