The temple was built in the 13th century during Monastery of Franciscans Minorites and consecrated in the name of St. Catherine of Alexandria. Initially, the church was a two-aisled Gothic hall temple with a narrow altar part. In the following centuries, the church was rebuilt several times. In the XVI – In the 17th century, a third nave appeared on the north side of the temple. In 1803, the Bishopric of Munster was secularized, the Basilica of St. Catherine was desecrated, the Franciscan monastery was closed.
