The Grand Palace – a massive architectural project created in 1900 for the next World Exhibition. The visual performance of the Palace is attributed to the beaux-art style. The palace is located in the 8th administrative district of Paris, not far from Pont Alexandre III.
Before the construction of the Grand Palace, there was another building dedicated to the World Exhibition – Palace of Industry. It was built in 1885 as an analogue of the Crystal Palace in London. Dismantling the Palace of Industry began in 1897 with the aim of building the Grand Palais – the very one that can be seen now.
The majestic building has become one of the symbols of French culture and its European and world power. The words about the dedication to the glory of French art are embossed on the facade.
It was originally planned that this building would host all kinds of events related to public holidays, but later, in 1925, the role of the Palace has changed a little – international exhibitions of applied art began to be held here.
1937 was also the year of the modernization of the Palace. The entire west wing has been reconstructed, and the interior has been refurbished. The infamous Palace of Discovery opened in the wing, it is – Museum of discoveries and inventions.
Today the Palace is used as a venue for concerts of various levels, as well as an ultra-modern exhibition hall
