Sheikh Said House-Palace in the UAE, Dubai Resort
Rating: 9,3/10 (7871 votes)  The Sheikh Said House-Palace was erected at the end of the 19th century and from 1912 to 1958 belonged to Sheikh Said Al Maktoum, the ruler of Dubai. The palace looks like an ordinary house with which the entire city was built up earlier. But since it has a noble origin, an outwardly elegant and well-groomed appearance, they began to call it a palace. The house is located almost at the entrance to the mouth of the bay. According to legend, the house-palace was built exactly on this place by order of Sheikh Said, as he was very fond of watching the ships entering the bay. The house-palace is a closed suite of rooms, and in the middle there is an open courtyard. On the outside, the windows of the second floor are decorated with beautiful shutters. By the end of the 20th century, the house was badly dilapidated, and it was decided to restore it. The reconstruction was quite successful and was awarded one of the prizes of the Council of Arab States. Currently, the house-palace of Saeed houses a museum, where exhibits are displayed dedicated to sea crafts, port, pearl mining, the history of the country, the history of the ruling dynasty, and even the oil business. Numismatists and collectors are delighted with the collections of coins and stamps, as well as an excellent library.
