Rating: 7,9/10 (5003 votes) The Church of San Cassiano is a church in Venice located in the San Polo area. The church was named after Saint Cassiano – patron saint of teachers, from Imola. Cassiano was the bishop of Brescia and took death from his own disciples. Today in the church you can see a painting by the painter Antonio Balestra depicting this event. The bell tower, erected in the 13th century, adjoins the cathedral. The facade of the church is rather modest, a large-scale reconstruction was carried out in the 19th century. The temple also contains paintings by Tintoretto – famous painter of the XVI century, such as `` Descent into Purgatory '' raquo;,"Resurrection" and 'Crucifixion'.
