The style in which it was built is also called the 'bright Gothic style'. On the site where the cathedral is now located, there used to be an ancient Romanesque church, built in the 9th century to store Christian relics taken from Toledo. In the cathedral you can see the largest altar in Spain, made in 1525, as well as the tomb of Alfonso II.
