The church was erected in 1347 and consecrated in honor of Saint Egidius. At that time, the church was the most important temple in the city, it was respected and honored, therefore it was periodically updated and decorated. At the beginning of the 18th century, a tower was added to the building, and in the 19th century the interior of the church was decorated with a wonderful interior. During the Second World War, as a result of bombing the temple was destroyed. At the end of the war, it was decided not to restore the church, thereby turning the building into a monument to the victims of the war.
