Karmelite Square is a very beautiful and large square in the city. It is located northeast of the City Castle (or Graz Castle). In 1578 this square became the main square of the city.

The square got its name in honor of the former Carmelite nunnery, in the building of which the police headquarters began to be located in 1784.

In the eastern part of the square you can see a memorial dedicated to the soldiers who died during the Second World War, and in the southern part there is the Haller Palace with the Trinity Column (1680).

Today, at Easter and Christmas, folk festivals are held on Karmelitskaya Square, various unique toys, souvenirs, interesting and useful curiosities. In addition, street theater sometimes plays here, entertaining locals and tourists.
