Castle of Plessis-le-Tours – castle in the Renaissance style, located in the town of La Rouche in the Loire Valley. The castle was built during the reign of Louis XI. The king died in this castle in 1483.

In 1465, Louis XI bought the Monti estate, the property of the lords of Maillet. Here he rebuilt a new brick castle. The main wing of the castle has a mezzanine on the outside, two floors with numerous wide windows, a mezzanine; from the side of the courtyard there is a gallery with an arcade, the upper floor is illuminated by huge windows. There is a chapel in the outbuilding in the north-east of the castle. The stone facade of the castle is decorated with bas-reliefs in the form of various ornaments and images of ermines, lilies, porcupines.

The building that appears before us today is – only part of an imposing chateau with three wings. Now the castle belongs to the Polish community, which only occasionally allows you to visit the chambers of Louis XI, in which his life ended and the basements where the royal prison was located.

The castle was included in the list of French Historical Monuments in 1927 year.
