Mount Turmberg, which reaches a height of 256 meters, is located in the territory of Durlach, an urban area of Karlsruhe. You can get to the top of the mountain either on foot or by funicular.
Turmberg is the northernmost mountain in the Black Forest. To the south of the mountain are the Geigerberg, Lerchenberg and Guggelens mountains, which are a favorite place for walks and recreation among locals.
One of the main attractions of Turmberg are the ruins of Durlach castle, which can be observed on the top of the mountain. Until now, only the tower has survived from the castle, on which there is an observation deck today. Near the tower there is a cozy restaurant built in medieval style.
In 1953, the Schoneck Sports School was erected on Turmberg, where in 1954 preparations for the world tournament took place national football team.
