For the convenience of visitors, benches were installed in the Garden, pedestrian paths were laid, and a children's corner was arranged for the smallest. The garden is located next to the Church of the Holy Virgin Mary. The garden was founded in 1348 during the renovations of Nove Mesto. It originally belonged to the Carmelite monks. In 1604, the Garden was taken over by the Franciscans, who grew here spices, trees and flowers. After a while, the Garden was plundered, but rebuilt by the Franciscans. At the same time, a monastery pharmacy, a well and a fountain were built here. In 1950, the communists drove the Franciscans out of the Garden, and soon the Franciscan Garden was opened to the public. In 1989-1992, reconstruction works were carried out here, during which a new gate was built, decorated with scenes from the life of St. Francis of Assisi. In 1989, a small area of the Garden was transferred to the Order of the Franciscans, which they still own today.
