National Museum of Military History in Bulgaria, Sofia Resort
Rating: 8,6/10 (3643 votes)  Today the National Museum of Military History is one of the most popular museums in the city of Sofia. The first thing that meets visitors is rusting army trucks located in the front yard. The entire exposition of the museum, located on three floors, tells about the military history of the country, starting with the Thracian era. Main part the exposition is dedicated to the period from the April Uprising in 1876 to the First World War. Rebel flags, weapons, military uniforms and personal belongings of soldiers are displayed here. The most interesting are the pilot's costume, made of fleecy fur, and the uniform of Nikola Kostov – a boy who voluntarily went to the front during the First World War. Further exhibits follow, dedicated to the Second World War and the communist period. On the fourth floor, you can see a collection of foreign awards that were presented to the leaders of Bulgaria. In the backyard of the building is a collection of inoperative military equipment, including Scud missile launchers, fighters and tanks.
