The princess was the daughter of Emperor Li Than Tong. Legend has it that the emperor ordered the erection of a palace on the lake, where he sent his daughter with the ladies of the court, who were supposed to help to understand her place in society. Initially, the pagoda was called Dong Long, and in 1771 it was renamed Kim Lien. The pagoda has three small pavilions, each topped with a two-level roof.
