Rating: 8,2/10 (495 votes)  The Church of John the Baptist is located in the Christian Quarter, slightly south of the Church of the Holy Sepulcher. The beautiful, silvery dome of the temple rises above the rooftops of the Muristan district. This temple was erected in the 5th century AD and is included in the number of the oldest churches in Jerusalem. In the XI century, restoration work was carried out in the church of St. John the Baptist, the architectural ensemble was supplemented by two bell towers, perfectly preserved to this day. In front of the entrance to the church, there is a reservoir for collecting rainwater. The church was originally built on the ruins of an older architectural structure.
