Diocletian's Mausoleum is located on the territory of Diocletian's Palace and is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. A few centuries later, after the death of the emperor, it was rebuilt into a Christian cathedral. It was dedicated to Saint Domnius, the bishop of Split, who was tortured to death by the warlike ruler. In the 7th century, the cathedral was consecrated by the Christian church.

During the rebuilding of the mausoleum, the sarcophagus with the remains of Diocletian was taken out of the palace, and in its place were placed the relics of St. Domnius. The appearance of the cathedral was slightly changed, the main addition was the construction of a five-tiered bell tower with a height of 60 meters, which was gradually erected from the XII to the XVI century.

The building of the Cathedral of St. Domnius is an octahedral building covered with a dome. Its main attractions include the altar of St. Domnius and magnificent bas-reliefs.

The entrance to the Cathedral of St. Domnius, the former mausoleum of Diocletian, is guarded by a black sphinx.
